Something about me
I am An Italian Multidisciplinary Artist, living in the hills near Florence.
I have formed myself over time through the culture in which I grew up, personal vicissitudes, a still unceasing study and practice of various disciplines: ceramist, designer, art and Design teacher, graphic designer and much more. This plurality of experiences allows me today to approach any artistic or educational project with freedom from preconceptions and a transversal vision attentive to every point of view.
I’m a figurative artist, actually I express myself mainly through painting and drawing.
Imperfection as a source of inspiration is a theme very close to my heart.
I have faced cancer five times; this condition has directed the way I make art. I paint with oil colors on OSB, a wood made of pressed chips, because it restores the sense of material (sometimes I spread the color with my fingers, caressing it like ceramics) and because the irregular chips break up the brushstrokes and figures, giving meaning and redemption to my scars.
I have been married with a woman and have two daughters, I discovered and embraced my homosexuality a in adulthood. In my works I explore the nuances of love in all its expressions and the wonder of life. I love details, revealing hidden harmonies..
Painting male bodies means expressing my own personal nature, reconnecting with a millennial artistic tradition and attempting to actively respond to contemporary society. In my vision eroticism is a natural element , it is a window through which to connect to the many facets of being human. My art making is a constantly evolving path. Each work lives by dialoguing with the viewer.
In 2018, from meeting Marco Tonucci who is Deuteranope colorblind, the Colorblindness Creativity Project was born. It is a creative/educational project that explores colorblindness as a source of inspiration to improve accessibility and social integration. Art is a powerful tool for imparting knowledge and stimulating different points of view about our surroundings.
Color blindness has also influenced my approach to art: I often use few colors and prefer those that allow a color-blind person to see my paintings in the same way I see them, eliminating differences. At other times, I cater to the strong sensitivity of color-blind people to detail, playing with light, volume, and paying attention to small details. I am interested in creating integration, accessibility, and awareness.

Intensity is a word that people have often used when talking to me about what they see in my work. Exploration and integration, both in visual terms and in terms of content, are perhaps two other words that help to interpret my artistic journey.
Formation
Being born in Florence on February 8, 1963, and growing up in a city so rich in beauty was perfect for me, who since childhood has always been very curious, creative and a lover of drawing. I made my first painting at the age of 11.
I began my studies at the Art Institute for Ceramics in Sesto Fiorentino. I went on to attend the faculty of History of Contemporary Art at the University of Florence under the guidance of Antonio Del Guercio, thanks to whom I also learned the basics of conceiving and setting up exhibition events. During the same years I refined my drawing technique at Mary Ann Luchetti's school. To this day I still love to learn and study deeply: every choice in my work is supported by a why.
Exhibitions and Awards
It would be long and useful to compile a list of dates, places and names, I will limit myself to remembering the events to which I am most attached, not exactly in chronological order.
The Francesco Merlini national prize for the best graduate among art institutes was awarded in 1982 during the exhibition at the Villa Corsi Salviati in Sesto Fiorentino.
In 1983 Professor Antonio Del Guercio entrusted me with the preparation of Joe Tilson's works in the loggias of the Volterra market on the occasion of Art Itinera.
In 1987 I obtained the inclusion among contemporary Italian artists by the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz. The same year is the personal exhibition in the Cloister of Giuliano da Sangallo in Florence.
In the following years there have been various awards and many exhibitions, both collective and personal, of which I have sometimes been the creator and curator. I want to remember the personal exhibitions at Palazzo Ranghiasci in Gubbio, the participation in Discovery of Italy in New York, and other exhibitions in Turin, Florence, Milan and Brussels.
For some years I have been present with personal spaces at ArteFiera Bologna and Abitare il Tempo in Verona.
Since 2023 I have been exhibiting regularly In Provincetown (MA) in fall 2024 I was admitted to the group show Dirty little Drawings at the historic SoHo Project Space gallery in Manhattan NYC.

The Honorable Mention at the Capraia'91 Award is followed by the awards received at Vindesign Piacenza and in various editions of the Italian Award.
In 1995 I was recognised as a quality craftsman and chosen by MIBACT to participate in the MuseoMuseo project, which gave birth to the first collection of objects related to Italian museum heritage. This first collection was presented to the public with an exhibition in the prestigious Sala Bianca in Palazzo Pitti; seeing my works in that mythical space was an unforgettable experience.
The Site Specific projects for the Guado al Melo Winery in Bolgheri occupy a rather large time frame. both in the tasting rooms and in the roof / garden.
In 2020, during the lockdown, I was selected by the Biffi gallery in the first tranche of three artists for the BiffiOnline Project, an innovative digital exhibition successfully conceived by Stefano Gazzola. In 2021 the exhibition was physically presented in the Biffi Arte Gallery in Piacenza.
In 2021 I have been the art director of Lucignano Sensi e Amore, a festival of cultural events in Lucignano (AR)
Since 2023 I'm the Art Ditector of B.A.Co Baratti Architettura e Arte Contemporanea
